Pepper with setter – 3 players

This is a really simple warm up with three players.

One guy/gal sets the ball, and the other two do all the digging and spiking. It’s great setting practice, and if the passers are a bit rough is also good for fitness. the setter is constantly making short fast movements to the ball.

The setter always sets back to the player that passes the ball.

This is a killer when you’re setting for two guys who can’t pass ;-)

You get more benefit with this when the defenders have to angle the ball towards the setter, rather than just digging straight up in the air. This way the defenders learn to change the direction of the ball.

This drill is great putting the two hitters on opposite sides of the net and having them practice either line, angle or short cut shots. Since the digger knows where the shot is going, he can practice reading , responding, and digging the various shots. meanwhile, the setter is forced to duck under the net between sets, working on proper sets and footwork. summary: Great cardio for all and your hitters get all around practice (digging, passing, and shooting)
