Paris Grand slam
Sunday, June 24, 2007 0:52The crazy Lacigas are back together for only the second time since Athens 2004 to play the Paris Grand Slam. Unfortunately they were knocked out in the first game of elimination. A similar story for Josh and Schachty, (Schacht / Slack) who beat Emanuel-Ricardo in the pool play.
The big news for us Aussies was in the girls quarters, in a match that was billed as the prelude to the 2008 Gold Medal final. FIVB press release here.
Unfortunately Barnett-Cook were hosed down 21-15 21-15 by Walsh-May-Treanor, in what must have been a disapointing game. You will be able to read what they have to say about it on Nat’s website, when she gets around to updating it.
But after all, Walsh-May-Treanor are (according to the FIVB press gallery) the “second winningest women’s team in SWATCH-FIVB World Tour history”
Just in case you are like me and are wondering what the F@%&k sort of a word is winningest? It’s actually been in the dictionary since the 70′s according to the web dictionary. I think it’s wrong, myself, (and for the record, so does my word processing dictionary) but what can you do?…
