The Schwaiger sisters have achieved the highest ever finish for an Austrian team in the history of the FIVB World Tour, winning their semi final match against Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca of Brazil. Unfortunately they failed to complete the dream run, losing the final 1-2 (14-21, 21-18, 12-15) to second seeds, Talita-Antonelli BRA, but still a wonderful result for Austria.

Full story here.

One of the casualties along the way to the Schwaiger sisters’ great achievement was the Australian team of Palmer Bawden, who were brushed aside in 38 minutes, 2-0 (21-15, 21-13). The Aussies then lost in similar fashion to Nila-Ingrid NOR [9] 2-0 (21-16, 21-13). These two losses are a little surprising considering the form that Palmer Bawden have shown over the past two weeks, but 5th is still a great result. We look forward to seeing them at the next event.
